Case

The download stopped, and the link no longer works

You may be looking at a file you cannot replace. Before anything else: do not delete it, because the partial file may be all that is left.

The moment it fails

The download reached 80 % and stopped. Now the page says the link has expired, and the folder holds a file ending in .crdownload that nothing will open. It is reasonable to be worried, and to feel the file is gone.

What to try first

  1. Resume from the browser's downloads page.
  2. Open the original page: the link may have been renewed.
  3. Ask whoever sent the file for another copy.

A real second copy is always better than anything we can build. If none of these work, you still have the part that arrived.

What the partial file can still give

Choose it on the home page. Your device reads the file, identifies the format from its content and rebuilds the missing structure around the intact data. The original is not changed and nothing is uploaded.

What you come away with

A new file, or a clear answer that nothing usable was found, plus a report of what was kept, dropped or inferred. Open the result and check how far it goes: what was never received cannot appear.

Common questions

Can a file with no extension be processed?

Yes. The format is detected from the content, at any position in the file.

What if no usable data is found?

The page says so. Please keep the original: it may hold data in a format not yet recognised.
